Abstract:
RAL has a well-validated scheme to produce height-resolved ozone date from GOME which spans the troposphere as well as the stratosphere, the first time that this has been achieved from space. Funds are requested for computer procurement and staff-time for computer installation, data handling and operations to process all ground-pixels from the 8-year mission within a 12-month period. SCIAMACHY's uv calibration is ~25% low, making the data unusable for ozone profile retrieval. It is proposed to devise and make available to the community a correction algorithm, by applying a similar methodology to that developed recently at RAL to correct GOME scan-mirror uv degradation occurring after 1998.
