Abstract:
This discipline-hopping proposal will provide the funds for a 12 month secondment to work in the Ecology Division at the University of Stirling. I intend to use my expertise in spatial population theory to model the specific ecological systems under investigation at Stirling. There will be a two-way skill transfer as I will gain intimate knowledge of the specific systems and the modelling results will be bale to confer new levels of understanding on the natural systems and therefore direct further experimental work and benefit control and conservation strategies. Initial discussions have outlined several suitable projects in which investigations will produce timely interdisciplinary applied research and provide the foundations for long-term collaborations and future proposals.
