- Abstract:
- This proposal will develop a prototype ocean diagnostics grid for community work with high resolution marine data from the NERC OCCAM model and data from the Met Office FOAM (Forecasting Ocean-Atmosphere Model). A prototype web server is already available (www.nerc-essc.ac.uk/las). The proposal will also develop new software for more sophisticated remote visualisation capabilities of large amounts of environmental data created in oceanic and atmospheric science, including the above models. The environmental science drivers will be better exploration of the thermohaline circulation through sophisticated visualization and analysis of ocean convection sites, and the calculation of water transformation budgets from high resolution models with data assimilation techniques. In addition the visualization of new unstructured grid fluid models will researched.
