Abstract:
The goal is to improve current understanding of the relationship between drift structure and recharge for groundwater sustainability and vulnerability assessments. The objective is to seek a general methodology for estimating recharge patterns through drift, using sites in the Tern catchment for the experimental programme. Research outputs wil1 include: *Improved drift mapping and characterisation for recharge using surface geophysics and targeted sampling methods. *Development of a 3D conceptual model of drift hydrogeology encompassing local to regional scales, and its quantification using geostatistical approaches. *Experimental studies of the small-scale flow patterns and recharge rates at two sites to test the conceptual model.
