Abstract:
We aim to prepare an archive of microbial genetic diversity by cloning high molecular weight (HMW) DNA containing information on many genes using artificial chromosomes (BACS). Using a specially adapted DNA extraction method soil will be sampled from three treatment regimes for preparation of environmental gene libraries. These libraries will function as a permanent archive of DNA for the molecular microbial ecologists to access in future studies.
