Abstract:
This proposal will investigate the transport and transformattion of dissolved nitrogen from soils to stream water using a combined and detailed field investigation of hydrological pathways and hydrochemical changes along replicated catenary transects from interfluve to stream. The project will also use deetaield spatial sampling to address issues of catchment heterogeneity in relation to soil carbon and nitrogen status and stream water chemistry. The field data will be synthesised to provide improved nitrogen process representation within the MAGIC acidification model.
