- Abstract:
- A novel methodology will be applied to elucidate the role of clouds, water vapour and aerosols in climate, by combining observations and simulations of the effect of these physical processes on the earth's radiation budget. SINERGEE capitalises on two developments; the new Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) meteorological satellite and dedicated simulations from the new Met Office weather forecast model. It will contribute to improving the model and to validating the satellite instruments. This will forge a new partnership between the modelling and earth observation communities. SINERGEE is well suited to the CONNECT scheme, providing an important new connection between the NERC and Met Office research programmes, through ESSC.
