Abstract:
We propose to make new measurements of the concentration profiles, at high spatial resolution, through the tropical upper troposphere and lower stratosphere of a number of tracers (mainly halocarbons) with a range of lifetimes, which would make a crucial contribution to studies of troposphere to stratosphere exchange. The data will be analyzed to study the structure of the tropical tropopause layer.
