Abstract:
We propose to make a series of 50 radiocarbon measurements on three collections of recent human bone (mainly compact femora) which have been selected to record the 1960s atmospheric 14C pulse from nuclear bomb tests. The establishment of a turnover time for compact and cancellous bone, especially for young and mature adults, is necessary for the better application of palaeodietary models, as well as for dating humans at the highest possible precision.
