Abstract:
Conventional micrometeorological techniques for reprocessing eddy flux data have been called into question recently, largely as a result of the success of the Fluxnet programme. Many sites established in this network report fluxes for conditions departing from the ideal of stationarity and horizontal homogeneity. Sites are often in complex terrain and horizontal advection may be present. Often, the available energy exceeds expenditure by sensible and latent heating, of the atmosphere. Fluxes of carbon dioxide may also he under-reported. Under these circumstances, new approaches are required to analyse the data in a suitable framework. In this proposal we intend to investigate novel ways of reprocessing data to take real-world influences into account.
