Abstract:
This proposal seeks to couple highly time and size resolved chemical composition information from the Aerosol Mass Spectrometer to a suite of microphysical instruments in a variety of air masses in the lower free troposphere at the Jungfraujoch Research Station. This state of the art instrumentation will be used to test detailed models of aerosol thermodynamics in sub and super saturated conditions and will be constrained by further aerosol microphysical data. This will be the most comprehensive data set of the thermodynamic behaviour of atmospheric aerosol to date.
