Abstract:
This project aims to understand the role of space and spatial structure on the persistence and dynamics of a multi-host-parasitoid system. Specifically, apparent competition in spatially extended systems will be investigated from both long and short-term laboratory studies and complemented by a range of mathematical models. These models will range from general phenomenological descriptors of the spatial structure and multispecies interaction to more detailed models that incorporate particular biological aspects (e.g. age and stage structure, connectivity) of the system.
