Abstract:
Ground based and airborne measurements will be made to understand the relationship between the particle size distribution and size resolved chemistry of Asian aerosol, its cloud condensation nucleus activity spectrum and the cloud droplet size distribution forming in a hill cap cloud. The work will use airborne measurements to investigate the effects of cloud processing on the size distribution, chemical composition and CCN activity spectrum. The phase partitioning of the organic and other chemical species in the aerosol will be investigated along with the effects of dynamical processes such as entrainment into the cloud on the cloud microphysics.
