- Abstract:
- This research project is exploring social class educational inequality in Canada, using Toronto as a case study. It will involve quantitative data analysis of a new dataset made available by the University of Toronto, in addition to conducting semi-structured interviews. The project will therefore aim to contribute new insights regarding (a) the nature of social class inequality in higher education, (b) the potential mechanisms informing this inequality, and (c) the experience of this inequality. The research questions posed are: 1. How does social class background impact higher education participation in Ontario? 2. How does social class background impact higher education attainment in Ontario? 3. How is higher education experience shaped by social class background? 4. Are other factors important in mediating social class higher education inequality?
