Abstract:
A market assessment study is required to inform the future development of the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology's (CEH) Land Cover Map (LCM) family of products. The availability of free, high-resolution data from the Copernicus Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 satellites has made the production of the CEH Land Cover Map and CEH Land Cover plus: Crop maps easier and more efficient. However, it is equally easy for competitors, both new and existing, to enter the land cover mapping market. It is timely, therefore to assess the market for LCM to enable an informed development plan for future products. The market assessment will focus on: 1. Qualitative data collection to inform a LCM user survey; 2. A survey of current non-academic users of LCM products; 3. Key informant interviews to produce case studies of use and elicit additional data to inform future development and commercial decisions.
