Abstract:
The CDT in Oil & Gas provides a bespoke 20 week training programme funded by subscription from industry partners. The programme comprises 16 weeks of mandatory training covering the CDT's four research themes; Environmental Impact & Regulation, Unconventional Hydrocarbons, Exploitation in Challenging Environments and Extending the Life of Mature Basins, as well as niche technical geo and bio-science topics, and 4 weeks of elective courses. This model affords students the opportunity to contextualise their PhD studies and broaden their knowledge and experience of the challenges faced by operators in the oil and gas sector. The industry sponsors promote the inclusion of field work as well as generic team-working and communication skills.
