Abstract:
This project seeks to understand and quantify the market opportunity for applying the controlled source electromagnetic (CSEM) technique and to understand what it would require, in terms of a communication strategy, for the market to accept this new (complementary) technology. The report will include the overall (projected) market size for a material shale gas industry in the UK and Europe. A number of reports have been widely published which estimate the UK shale gas resource potential and the level of investment required for a material shale gas industry. The study will also aim to articulate in numerical terms the value proposition for CSEM. These will include first; economic benefits related to an increased return on capital from reduced drilling risk at the exploration phase. Second, environmental benefits will be realised from fewer wells being drilled at the exploration phase and ensuring that the wells which are drilled are likely to be more productive.. The value proposition will be used to inform the key communication and marketing messages to leverage interest from potential investors and E&P companies who may contract the CSEM data acquisition service.
