Abstract:
This studentship is partnership between UEA and CEFAS Lowestoft. The student will undertake measurements in the southern North Sea and also use additional available data held by the two organisations and others to develop an understanding of the processes controlling the seasonal development of low oxygen conditions in stratified waters of this region. This understanding will then be incorporated in improved models which will allow the student to explore possible management options to reduce the prevalence of these low oxygen regions and the associated environmental damage. This information is needed by CEFAS as part of their provision of advice to UK government organisations on the effective management of the North Sea.
