Abstract:
This proposal is to extend the spatial and temporal coverage of plankton data in the MarProd region by the retrospective analysis of Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) samples from the RV Poseidon cruise in summer 2002. The Continuous Plankton Recorders deployed in summer 2002 were instrumented to provide temperature, salinity and fluorescence data. These complimentary data will also be made available to the MARPROD community. By combining the RV Poseidon CPR data with the CPR data from samples collected at almost the same time during MarProd summer cruise Di264 (already analysed), a more robust picture of the distribution of the key taxa and the plankton community structure will be possible.
