Abstract:
Preliminary research has indicated that a cyclodextrin based extraction technique may be appropriate for the prediction of soil-associated contaminant bioavailability. This proposal outlines a route to further validation of this soil test. The objective of this proposal is to generate sufficient data (under a range of conditions) to justify field trials of the soil test. Currently there are no analytical services available in the UK to deliver a test of this type. However, there are a number of potential applications, for example, pre-determining likely bioremediation end-points, characterising potential contaminant sources and characterising likely pathways from such sources to potentially sensitive receptors.
