Abstract:
Three of the listed projects will be awarded. All will be integrated within Cohort 4 of the Science and Solutions for a Changing Planet DTP, recieving training and cohort building activities during their PhD. - Maximising innovation potentials in energy storage manufacturing - Off-Grid Solar Cooling in Domestic Energy Systems - Optimized emission and cost reduction in decentralized heating, cooling and electricity networks using predictive climate, market and user demand data - Economic and socio-technological assessment of energy efficiency technologies for the automotive manufacturing sector for high energy cost countries - Production of task specific robots for retro-fit - Solving fuel cell degradation issues to achieve high efficiency combined heat and power generation - Understanding and minimising the potential environmental impacts of tidal range (lagoon) based renewable energy generation via advanced numerical modelling - Impact of inorganic ions on the development of antimicrobial resistance - Understanding the costs of mitigating climate change - Development of real-time maps of ground-water vegetation - Exploring endophyte diversity in crop wild relatives - Estimating and attributing regional methane emissions using innovative atmospheric measurements - Designing low carbon pathways for rural electrification - Applications of artificial intelligence to satellite data for extreme weather forecasts
